eHarmony

eHarmony is one of the most reputable dating sites around. Mainly suited to people wanting a serious relationship.

eHarmony screenshot - lovestore4u.comeHarmony.co.uk finds compatible singles for you so you don’t have to. Sounds simple but eHarmony takes a different approach from other online dating websites. Unlike the majority of online dating sites who match you on basic personality with the focus on appearance and your photo, eHarmony concentrates on an individual’s entire package. eHarmony does this by getting you to fill in a questionnaire. Although their questionnaire is intensive and laborious (estimated one hour time to complete), its purpose is to find the best person for you but also to discourage people who do not really want to be in a serious long-term relationship. The idea is to match singles based on key dimensions of compatibility proven to be the foundation for a long-term relationship such as character, intellect and values. This is definitely an online dating site for those seriously looking for love.

After completing your profile, eHarmony will send you a few highly compatible matches every day. You can review the profiles for free, and send them icebreakers if you’re interested. When you are ready to start getting to know the other person  better, you need to select one of eHarmony's membership plans and start communicating (see prices).

eHarmony is quite pricey but it claims to have a high success rate – they estimate that they are responsible for 2% of marriages in the USA. However, the questionnaire that you complete as part of your profile is apparently worth £20 and it gives you deep insights into who you are and how others perceive you, as well as what your needs are in a partner. So that may be handy to do as part of your overall online dating journey.

There are a couple of negative aspects to eHarmony. Firstly, not everyone is accepted at eHarmony. If your personality profile finds you to be emotionally unstable you will not be able to become a member. People who have been married numerous times or people whose sexual orientation is not straight cannot become a member. It can be frustrating because you do not find out if they accept you or not until you have completed the entire test. An estimated twenty percent of the people are not accepted at eHarmony.

Secondly, the lack of regular search facilities that are available on other online dating websites will either be a good or a bad thing depending on how you like to use online dating.
