On PARSHIP it’s your personality that’s the priority – and what you expect in a long-term relationship. This is determined by a compatibility test. PARSHIP’s compatibility test is based on more than 30 years of scientific research, which generates your personality profile. It precisely measures the aspects of your personality that determine your attitudes and behaviour in a relationship. The test will take about 20 minutes. PARSHIP’s emphasis on compatibility is reflected in the way that photographs are used on the site. In the first instance, you won’t be able to see the other person’s photos, except in a blurred format. On PARSHIP, photos are shared on a one-to-one basis. This is to reinforce that compatibility is more than just an attraction to a photograph.

There are quite a few free services that you can use on PARSHIP before becoming a fully paid up member, which lets you get a feel for the site before you part with your cash. Free services include: registration; the PARSHIP compatibility test and your resulting personality profile; your list of recommended partners (also produced by the test in conjunction with your search criteria); release your photo on a one-to-one basis to your recommended partners; send contact requests – you can send them free of charge or make contact via the Icebreaker, Smile and Make a comment features.

The Icebreaker is a fun way to get to know someone as opposed to just winking or becoming a fan of a profile. A quick quiz appears with four short questions, which you answer via a tickbox. You then indicate your choice of ‘forfeit’; you will have to honour this if it turns out that you and the other member agree on all four answers. The forfeit is nothing too demanding – for instance: ‘I’ll release my photo’. Once you’ve seen how your answers compare, it’s up to you what to do next. For a start, it’s only fair to honour your forfeit.

To read contact requests, to send and read messages with other members, and to view photos that have been released to you on a one-to-one basis, you need to become a Premium Member. A further advantage of Premium Membership is that you can sort the list of your recommended partners by distance and view the complete list of visitors to your profile. Also, PARSHIP has a good policy regarding inactive memberships, which is a common complaint for other online dating sites. PARSHIP will only recommend partners who have been active on PARSHIP within the last 8 weeks and if a member goes 12 months without logging in, his/her profile is deleted.
